The Harborvale in Burlington is the newest hospitality offering by Westport Hospitality, the team behind Hotel Vermont, the nationally recognized Condé Nast Traveler “Best Hotel in New England.” As Vermont’s first Autograph Collection hotel and only the third in New England, The Harborvale promises to be “Exactly Like Nothing Else.”

The Harborvale is seeking a Sous Chef to join our newly reimagined, one-of-a-kind property located in downtown Burlington, Vermont set on the shores of Lake Champlain. The Harborvale’s story is inspired by the wonder and sense of place that Lake Champlain provides; the adventure of fresh experiences, the opportunity to reminisce about fond memories while creating new stories to share. Food and beverage is essential to the guest experience at The Harborvale, whether it’s being enjoyed during a slow morning, golden evening, or whatever lies between. We look forward to hosting our guests and community for many meals and drinks in the Living Room of The Harborvale.

Position Overview:

In this role, you will cook in a manner that reflects the individuality of The Harborvale. You’ll cultivate a culture of warmth and excellence, creating memorable food moments that embody a sense of wonder, a hint of nostalgia, and a spark of adventure.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Training all Kitchen Positions

  • Inventory and Cost Control

  • Maintain an exceptionally clean and organized kitchen that will exceed Health Department and brand audit standards

  • Ensuring Guest Satisfaction

  • Be engaged with direct guest experiences ie. cooking classes, demos, tableside interactions

  • Make sure all kitchen equipment is well maintained

  • Have a well developed system of frequent whole team communications

Position Requirements:

  • Has 5 Years Line Cook experience.

  • Shows passion for local and sustainable ingredients.

  • Must be able to lift #50 repeatedly during a day.

  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs repeatedly during a day

We offer competitive wages and benefits. The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 -$65,000 based on experience and qualifications.
