Maintenance Technician (FT)
Title: Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
The Maintenance Technician that works between Hotel Vermont and Courtyard Burlington Harbor Hotel is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and improvement of the hotel’s facilities, systems, and equipment. This role ensures a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and staff by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and responding to repair requests in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently.
Conduct preventative maintenance checks and document completed work.
Monitor, maintain, and repair hotel equipment and systems such as boilers, chillers, water pumps, lighting, and security systems.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire codes, and assist with safety drills as required.
Keep maintenance shop, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order.
Assist with seasonal projects, renovations, and capital improvements as directed.
Collaborate with housekeeping and front desk teams to maintain high guest satisfaction standards.
Maintain accurate logs of maintenance requests, completed work, and supplies used.
Order or recommend necessary parts, supplies, and equipment while monitoring cost control.
Maintains a professional image at all times that falls within the hotel and company guidelines for appearance and dress.
Demonstrates teamwork by assisting colleagues as needed.
Has knowledge of and assists in all emergency procedures as required.
Anticipates possible and probable hazards and conditions and notifies Security
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
Previous maintenance or engineering experience in hospitality, facilities, or related field preferred.
Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building systems.
Ability to use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Good communication skills and professional demeanor.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, bend, and stand for extended periods.
This role requires both indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions, as well as occasional exposure to chemicals, noise, or mechanical equipment.
